As part of our 150th Anniversary Celebration in 2025, we are inviting Primary schools in our area to take part in an exciting art competition, with prizes for the winning schools and winning pupils.

In 1875, our charity was formed to support, educate and re-train people affected by vision impairments in the old Macclesfield Borough. 149 years later we are still an independent charity supporting local people affected by vision impairments to live life to the full. We are now known as East Cheshire Eye Society.

To celebrate our 150th anniversary, next year, we are launching an art competition for local schools in our area.

The prizes:

  • £150 arts/craft voucher for the winning schools.
  • £25 art/craft voucher for the winning pupils.
  • Each school can enter one pupil from each key stage and there are prizes for each key stage.
  • There will be an exhibition of artwork submitted by the schools at Macclesfield Silk Museum from 28th March to 19th

Expressions of interest in taking part:

By 31st October 2024: We will then be able to send you full competition details and submission dates.

Closing date for submissions of art work:

February 28th 2025

Competition theme:

  • Depict a local landmark (in Cheshire East) that is important to you – this can be a well known landmark such as White Nancy or somewhere more personal, such as a cinema, café.
  • The artwork should be accessible to people who have a vision impairment from any cause – we can send further information about living with sight loss on request and we may be able to arrange a visit to your school.
  • Use any materials and media including sound.
